Effective inter-organisational networks for Responsible Research and Innovation and global sustainability: a scoping review

Background: Achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is beyond capacity of any single organisation. The model for Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) includes principles engaging stakeholders suggests that an engaged, multi-sectoral approach hold promise to mobilise humanity solve complex urgent global issues. Methods: This scoping review explores characteristics effective and sustainable inter-organisational networks fostering RRI in service SDGs. An inductive-deductive search prior studies (1990-2020), with exception Benson’s (1975) seminal work was conducted, which focused on strategies initiate maintain relevant implementation and/or began themes derived from network theory, focusing on: (a) type function networks; (b) aims vision; (c) relationships between members. In total, 55 articles theory were included final analysis.
